Newtown Alumni Association currently operates under all applicable laws governing a not-for-profit corporation and has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) Corporation. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we have elected to assemble a team of professionals to assist us with the planning and execution of our priority mission -- that being, the design and construction of a permanent public memorial and green space within Newtown. In addition, NAA has elected to provide assistance to Newtown through active participation in areas where needs are clearly identified that benefit the short and long term welfare of the town and its citizens. To these ends, we are now actively soliciting funds for the above mentioned purposes, including the creation of an endowment fund dedicated to the perpetual care and maintenance of the proposed memorial and green space.
rnTo provide the town of Newtown and its citizens with a truly representative memorial/green space and one that is worthy of the memory of those who were so tragically lost, we have committed to working in harmony with a coalition of leading Newtown based organizations amd individuals. Each of these organizations will designate a member to represent their organization on our memorial advisory committee where they will actively provide assistance, input, and guidance toward our efforts. NAA strongly believes that a memorial should represent the collective sentiments of the citizens of Newtown and through these collaborative alliances, that goal will be achieved.
rnCurrent examples of NAA's active assistance and benefit to the town of Newtown are as follows:
rn*NAA, through one of its architectural firm team members, Joseph Clark’s architectural Studio, is currently profiling and modeling the Fairfield Hills Campus. This effort will provide unique views of the campus in support of the planning and presentation needed for future development of the area. In addition, should Fairfield Hills be the site chosen for a memorial and green space, this dynamic presentation will subsequently highlight a potential location within the campus for this permanent public memorial and green space.

rn*Early on, the NAA recognized that the deteriorating condition of the asbestos contaminated buildings located on the Fairfield Hills Campus as a serious problem facing the town and an area where NAA might be of assistance. Through the effort of a Virginia-based NAA member, contact was established at a very high level within the Federal Environmental Protection Agency affirming that funding may potentially be available to assist Newtown with the cleansing and possible demolition of a number of these buildings. This is an ongoing project and we will continue to pursue this funding in full transparency and coordination with the town of Newtown.
With selfless determination and resolute loyalty to purpose, we are pleased to continue our efforts toward the betterment of Newtown. Though many of our members are scattered throughout the world, each of our members continues to feel an unwavering gratitude towards their hometown. This sentiment, and the need to be of service following the tragic event of 12/14, has inspired and motivated our current efforts to ensure that Newtown will continue to heal and prosper. In that spirit, we as alumni, are pleased to give back to the town we genuinely appreciate with great fondness and love to this day.
rnPlease consider joining us with your generous financial and/or active support as we continue our heartfelt initiatives. Your encouraging contributions and assistance are most appreciated. Together, we can be assured that Newtown will persevere through these difficult days.
